1) I see a job I would like to apply for but need to join. How do I join sparjobs.co.uk?
Joining is easy and FREE! All you need to do is fill in a simple registration form. Click here to register. 2) I want to submit an application but want my details to be correct. What do I do?
Before submitting an application visit your account by logging in using the details you chose when registering. When logged in there is a tab at the top of the red area with a link to 'my account' - click this. Then you have different sections to fill in/edit all your personal details, education details and work experience details as well as upload a CV. This data will be saved and will be used when you make an application.
3) I have updated my details and want to apply. How do I do this?
Find the job you wish to apply for using the search fields on the search page and click the 'apply now' link beside the job of your choice. An application screen will give you information about account details stored for job applications and enable you to write a cover note for the application. Simply click the 'Submit' button and your application will automatically be registered for that job. 4) Can I keep track of my applications and how long should it take?
Yes. In general a job advert will be displayed for about 4 weeks until the closing date is reached. When the job is closed it will be processed by the Store Administrator (this should take no longer that a further 7 days). After your application has been considered you will receive email notification as to whether you have been unsuccessfull or if you have been selected for interview. Your account pages will also contain details of whether your application has been a success or not.

CV and Covering Letter
1) How do I write a CV?
When applying for SPAR jobs it is not always necessary to have a CV. You can apply for all jobs without having a CV but it can often help your application if you do have one. If you would like to have a CV but are not sure how to write one click here for a sample CV. 2) I wish to change my CV is this OK?
You are free to update your CV at any time. You can upload a new CV file from the 'my account' section of the website when you are logged in. Your new CV will be picked up by the system and used in any applications that have not yet been processed.
3) In what format should my CV be stored?
The sparjobs.co.uk website only accepts CV's in either word or PDF format.
4) Do I need to write a covering note?
Although not necessary we would generally advise that you should write something in the covering note box. It may be the case that the content of the covering note could determine an interview place between two similarly matched candidates. It also gives you the opportunity to tell us anything that is not included in the standard application details.

Once you have joined sparjobs.co.uk you will be able to log in and access your account details. In this section you will be able to add work experience, add education records and upload a CV. After you have done this you will be able to search for jobs and apply for these jobs using your stored details. Easy!
3) How much does it cost me to join or apply?
At SPAR we are looking to recruit the best people we can to work with SPAR and as such we will not charge you a penny for using this site. Joining is absolutely free and so is applying for jobs - so go ahead and apply, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
4) How long are my details held with sparjobs.co.uk?
The sparjobs.co.uk website will keep your account open as long as you log in more than twice a year. If your account remains inactive for longer than 6 months we will delete your account (we have to do this for Data Protection reasons as well as saving database space). When you apply for a job your details will be made available to the relevant SPAR store in order that they process your application. If you are unsuccessfull your detail may be held on file for a period of no longer than 5 weeks. If you are successfull and reach the interview stage your details may be held by the SPAR Store for a period of up to 6 months.

Interview Tips
1) I have an interview what should I wear?
Although it is not often necessary to wear formal office wear to an interview, we would strongly recomend that any candidate turns up to a SPAR interview in a smart and presentable manner, regardless of the type of job they are applying for.
2) How should I prepare for my interview?
You should ensure that you know where you are going and the time it will take you to get there. We recommend that you should arrive no later than 5 minutes before your interview is due to start. Ensure that you re-read your application details and CV so that you will be able to answer any questions that may arise in the interview. Prepare some questions that you may like to ask the SPAR interviewer, these should be sensible and based around the job, SPAR or conditions of employment for example. Finally be confident and try not to get nervous or worry, if you have got to the interview stage then we already liked your application!
3) What do I do after my interview?
Remember to thank the interviewer and if the interviewer has not already indicated when you will hear back from them regarding the job ensure that you ask. You should ask for the telephone number for the store (if you do not already have it) incase you need to contact them about anything. Then go home and relax! SPAR stores will do their best to ensure that they get back to you with a decision within the timeframe discussed. If for any reason they fail to do so please feel free to contact the store and query about the status of your application.
